As I mentioned previously, Neil and I went to Pennsylvania to be with his family over the holidays. Since I now take pictures as a job, I tend to not bring my camera around with me as much. But I do love taking photos, and sometimes, I just need to take photos for myself to keep the passion going so it doesn’t feel like work.
The image I actually am opening with is my favorite from the set. I love its urban vintage feel.
I know it’s a steeling town, but this image beckoned gold tones.

What’s that? A train overhead?
We then took a road up the hill to overlook the town…but the lookout spot is actually in the middle of the cemetery. Burial grounds can be sorta cool.
A full 180 degree turn and this is what I saw:

Then, as cliche it might be for the locals, we headed down the highway that skirted the grounds of St. Vincent college.
Then, like I said, we got lost…and because Neil didn’t bring his glasses and it was getting dark, I had to take the driver’s seat and therefore put the camera aside. 🙁
But the next day, we went into Pittsburgh, about 45 miles away from Latrobe. Neil’s brother, Steve, was kind enough to chauffeur… our destination was the museum of natural history. To be honest, it’s not really my bag. But on the way I saw pretty buildings and such.
How I would love to shoot a couple in front of this door…or maybe even a bride… sigh.
Then we headed to Lawrenceville for dinner and bowling. Again, I was entertained on the walk there. In Penn, all the buildings are so close together. And wires galore! I find a sort of charm in it though.
We ate yummy kabobs at this place:
And then it got dark. 🙁
Anyway, I’ll post again about this later, but in other news… I have all my artist original prints for sale now on my gallery-viewing platform.

I used a variation of a preset in Lightroom that I made quite awhile ago. I called it Rusty Nail. 🙂 it has some individual saturation tweaks…exposure tweaks…and then a bit of a split tone with highlights set at Hue of 72, Saturation at 26, balance at -19. And then the shadows set at H: 25, Saturation 11. Then I modified it from there…
