Sherice had sent me links to the outfits she was going to have her kids wear to the photo session well before the evening arrived. I was giddy knowing that her son and daughter would be bringing their personality to their attire. And when I met them in late September one evening at Shawnee Mission Park (they drove all the way from St. Louis to see me!!! EEEK!!!), I was delighted to see that they were cute as buttons to boot…AND full of spunk. So full of spunk that I am very thankful to my new pal Julianna from Lebanon, Mo., who is a budding photographer herself, for coming along to watch me work and assist as needed. The kids definitely warmed to her. So thank you, Julianna!!

I thought it was a perfect time to bring out the beloved red chair I kindly took from my own brother. I don’t want to use it in EVERY session, but this one was CALLING FOR IT!!!

Trevor is a service member for the U.S. Army and deploys in early 2011, so I thought I’d get some pics of just him and his beautiful wife, who surely must miss him like crazy when he’s gone.

Do you see the story in this shot? Because this was what it looked like a lot of the time with Sebastian off in his own world, trying to catch moths or turkeys. I love it. In fact, I think i would turn this into a canvas if I were them.
And when we needed to pull out an extra bribe to get Sebastian and Skye to behave, we used Julianna…the entire time they wanted HER in a photo with them. So we said if they were good, we’d take one at the end. And they WERE! So here is the pic!!!
Shortly after this, I was given one of the most memorable hugs since I’ve started shooting….one from Sebastian, after he requested I remove my camera so it wouldn’t get in his way. Sigh.
