Most of my brides and grooms are referred to me by their friend or family member. Others come from searching the internet for wedding photographers in their area. And in this case, Katie & Nate came from both–their friend searched the internet and then directed them my way. So to their pal, Ashley, I say–THANK YOU. ; )
But my thankfulness doesn’t stop there. I’m so excited to be shooting their wedding next June. It’s in Nebraska City at Arbor Lodge and Farm, which has a special place in my heart as my family would go there every fall for a picnic, tour the mansion and get caramel apples and apple cider.
But it’s not just any wedding…it’s Katie & Nate’s… and after hanging out with them in the wee morning hours two weeks ago, I am absolutely pumped. They are sooooo in love and good-looking and sweet and have great senses of humor. (Something I didn’t find very funny though…Nate’s last name is Swift…and they were very serious when they told me that Taylor Swift is his cousin. I got very, very, very excited. And then they burst my bubble. Jerks. haha)
We met at Chalco Hills at 7:45 a.m. It was my first sunrise session…and I’m definitely a fan. Early, yes. But beautiful lighting? Triple YES. See for yourself the magic that happened.
“Waiter, I would like the golden light special, with yummy nature-like goodness for dessert.”
COMING RIGHT UP! 😉
When the laugh together, their darling-ness peaks.
They could easily be models. Easily. And for me…they were. 😉
My fave serene one. Katie looks like a cross between a younger Eva Mendes and Mandy Moore. Wow.
Ok, maybe these are my faves. Love the attitude in one and the flirtatiousness in the other.
I asked them to bring their ‘tudes. Love the results!
And here is a photo that was super hard to orchestrate. These rambunctious dogs, Memphis on the left and Bear on the right, were all over the park. We finally got them to stay put for a few seconds…I am holding a stick above my camera (yes, that was difficult to operate the camera with one hand and my arm quivering because I’m a weakling. haha) And moments after this, they charged at me…Bear grabbed the stick and ran off. But yay for getting this!
Look! The canines showed up again! For just a moment!
Brilliant colors! (and for those super-observant ones, yes, Katie put her original top back on. 😉 )
Katie & Nate–thank you for waking up sooo early and traveling from Lincoln to Omaha for this killer session. Your dogs are awesome. You both are awesome. And your chemistry together and with me is TO DIE FOR. And judging from your engagement session, your wedding day will be doused in magic as well. 😉
