Now that I’m located in Kansas City permanently, I will slowly start to build a list of places that I would love to shoot. And perhaps one will tickel your fancy and I can cross something off my list. 🙂 Repeats are always welcome, however….
Great family location??? Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. (free Mon-Thurs!! Open till 8 on Tues/Thurs…so those are prob the evening that you’d want to have a shoot there. )
Book lovers?? The Community Bookshelf at the Downtown KC library
Down with fresh veggies and vibrant community? Let’s go to the CITY MARKET!!!
I can’t find this online anywhere with great pics, but our KC calendar has an awesome stone terrace pic from the former North Terrace Park, which has been renamed Kessler Park.
Covered bridge, anyone? this is near lenexa.
whispering Hills on Pebble Lane
Fab nature shots, with wonderful architecture: Unity Village
The alluring Berkley Riverfront Park.
A park with options: Swope Park
Great architecture, lighting and art!! Nelson Atkins Museum
I can’t find pics of the campus, but State Street Bank in KC downtown had fabulous structures and stairs and then an overlook of the river/industrial part of the city.
the Plaza…most specifically…these blue steps!! (not my photo)
Family session would be fun here: UNION STATION
Ice skating…seriously…would LOVE. TO. SHOOT. A. SESSION. LIKE. THIS. !!!
Feeling grungy? urban? adventurous? I WANT TO GO TO THE WEST BOTTOMS!
A nice lil’ stop…the Main Street Theater
Parks are sweet and fun:
Loose Park
Powell Gardens
Remnants of Longview Mansion
More to come as I find the hidden gems…but if you have your own you think I should be aware of…DO TELL!!!
And some other ideas to maybe incorporate into your session:
kite flying
hula hoops
rollerskates
tandem bikes
facepaint
blindfolds
carnival
Jakevol2 - Oh cool! You used my shot of the steps at Valencia Place! I feel honored that a professional would use my shot in her blog! Thank you!
Darbi G. Photography - You are most welcome! I can't wait to shoot there. 🙂 Thanks for having a pic of what I was referring to. 🙂 Happy lighting!
Gretchen Shanahan - Hello again! You have such great info on your site. Great variety of suggestions for locations. You've obviously become very familiar with KC! I'd add the Music Hall downtown for brides who like Art Deco. Very interesting light fixtures, marble staircase, etc. If you check it out be sure to also take a look at the ceiling in the "Little Theatre" next door.
