This is a couple who is thankful for coed dorms. For without them, they might not have met. Erin & Matt met as residents of the same dorm at KU several years ago and hung out with a group of people before they honed in on one another. Erin fell for Matt when she realized she could do anything with him—from drinking beer watching the Jayhawks play basketball or the Cardinals play baseball to having a romantic evening out and about. Her affirmation that he’s “the one” grows stronger every day when she takes note of how much she looks forward to seeing him when she gets home from work. Matt’s own confidence in the relationship skyrocketed when the two decided to move across Missouri to St. Louis.

Now that both of them have real-world jobs (she is a property accounting manager and he works in mortgage operations), they still make time for what matters. Like eating BBQ. Going to the Lake. Playing darts or yard games. Spending time with their charming, tongue-crazy boxer, whom I had the pleasure of meeting, named Yadi.

Last fall, the couple was strolling around Erin’s favorite place—the St. Louis botanical gardens, when suddenly the love of her life dropped down on his knee to ask for her hand in marriage. But the magical evening didn’t end there. They swung by his mom’s house (supposed to drop off Yadi so they could go to dinner), only to find that all of their friends and family were there to celebrate the engagement! Erin was so shocked that after 9 years of dating, he still pulled off a surprise!

They shall take the next step in their relationship come October. And I’m so much looking forward to it because Erin’s family is no stranger to Darbi G. I shot Erin’s sister’s wedding two years ago. So glad they all came back for more!!!

And a special thank you to Maggie and Leanne for their help reining in Yadi for the shoot. And for the laughs. ?See you soon!

  • Darbi's Mom - What a cute couple! And what a beautiful love story! Oh, and what a cute dog! Darbi, beautiful job on the shoot. Love them all. And I’m sure the happy couple does too!ReplyCancel

Families, most of them in fact, are not just cute. They aren’t just loving. They also are…CHAOTIC. And sometimes, it’s that chaos that is beautiful. Not every photo has to be “perfect” in terms of everyone looking at the camera, smiling. I myself would rather document kids being kids (goofy, rascally, ornery), parents being parents (incredibly in love with their goofy, rascally and ornery ones). When I work with the E family, I know I’m going to get all of the above. I cherish these sessions because it’s exactly what I want to capture for families. Enjoy yet another Omaha mini session!!!!! With a family who has been on my blog FOUR times now!! xo

Here is good perspective on how behind I am with blogs STILL. Yep, I am sick of singing the same tune, too. But in this session, Lara was pregnant with Baby Girl #2. And now Baby Girl #2 is getting her license.

Just kidding. I don’t suck at blogging THAT Much. 😉 But Emmeline WAS born in mid December, so she’s now almost 4 months old. Lara can’t imagine her life any different than it is now, but rewind with us…back to October, when Carys was the only ray of sunshine that she could bask in. Now, she has TWO. Carys is a sister, and Lara and Chris are now parents to two kiddos. I am so grateful to know such an adorable, fun, loving family of FOUR. I haven’t been able to meet Emmeline yet since they live in Omaha, but am excited to do so in April.

So enjoy the craziness and fun and adorableness that this toddler brings to my blog….
