Wow. I cannot believe Darbi G. Photography’s third year has come and gone. And what a year it was! I am so very grateful for all of my clients who have chosen me to document very important parts of their lives. As much as I love shooting, as much as I love processing photos, my favorite part of being a photographer is connecting with others. Hands down.
Here are a few collages of my favorite images from 2009 sessions and weddings. (I omitted boudoir images).
From 6-month-old Eleanor, to cold and cuddly Sarah & Aaron, from Abby & Justin’s adventures around Mizzou to Allison & Zack’s drizzly yet romantic engagement session, from Katie & Brandon’s deliciously springy shoot, to the most exhausting, yet fun, adventures with EIGHT dogs of Elsa & Jeff’s….I thoroughly enjoyed braving mean weather, smelling daffodils and diving out of the way of furrballs.
From my great pal Jennifer & Steven’s Bearcat-inspired session to my sister’s glowing belly and upcoming motherhood, to Christina & Dustin’s yummy engagement session in downtown Columbia, from Jenn & Ron’s vintage-like dreamy wedding to Lindsay & Parker’s bold and beautiful wedding day, to Allison & Zack’s bright and cheery one, I couldn’t get enough of late spring and early summer, or those who brought their love and laughter my way.
From Amy & Justin’s poignantly scrumptious wedding, to the darling and special newborn pics of my first niece, Cailin, from Nikki & Nick’s playful and frisky wedding, to Desola’s head shots in the thick summer humidity, to Sarah & Aaron’s intimate affair in the Capital City, to oh-mi-gosh Eleanor is ONE YEAR old!!!!!…I embraced the 2009 summer.
From the Quinn’s urban and hip family session, to Katie & Brandon’s sultry and dreamy wedding in Jefferson City, from the Hollinghead’s fun and pinch-the-cheeks cute family shoot to Cara & Dan’s AMAZING wedding weekend in Colorado (with my girl Lara Hanlon!!), to the newborn shoot of my supervisor’s joy Elliette, to my good friend’s own baby girl Zoe’s hilarious and charming 3-month session…I was so very lucky.
From the Goer’s family shoot at the railroad in Omaha, to Eric & Caroline’s engagement session that had too many favorites, from Ashley & Colin’s sweet and loving photo tribute to their childhood in Papillion, Neb., to newborn Ireland’s precious session, from my first Kansas City engagement session with Sara & Kylie that was as fun as it was cold to Cailin’s 6-month shoot at my new home…. I didn’t want 2009’s goodness to end.
But it has. I’ve learned a lot this year. I laughed a lot. I’ve stressed out a lot. And I’ve thanked God a lot. I do understand fully how fortunate I am.
As 2010 begins, I am feeling refreshed. I’m in a new location (LOVING Kansas City by the way), in new home, with a new chum (my cat Kramer) and the same ol’ husband who is my bestest friend ever. I cannot wait to see what this year entails…but soon, I will be quitting my 8 to 5 job so that I can truly grow and focus on my photography business. I am VERY much looking forward to making my own dreams come true.
Thank you to past, present and future clients. Thank you to my family for being some of my greatest fans. Thank you to my hubby for enduring a wife who works 70 hours a week. And thank you to my friends for your support. XOXO

Ashley - DARBI: You are one of my personal heroes and sources of inspiration!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There needs to be a new word added to the English language to describe your photographs.
