I cannot believe that 2008 has come and gone. I know, I know, everyone says that. But it’s been such a year…full to the rim with important events. Let’s see…
- Darbi G. Photography began it’s 2nd year of existence in January.
- I lost my sanity in March.
- Neil and I got married in June. I regained my sanity shortly thereafter.
- My brother and his girlfriend bought a house in September; Neil’s brother moved to Pittsburgh.
- My sister found out she’s pregnant that same month.
- My aunt had a baby in October.
- Four close family members, including Neil, all found new jobs in the past six months.
What, oh what, will 2009 have in store? I know a few things:
Neil graduates in May.
Temple has her baby in late May/early June.
Neil and I hope to move by the end of July. To where? That’s up in the air, sorta. Our No. 1 pick is Austin, Texas. But he’ll also be looking for jobs in North Carolina, Tennessee and a few other places. We are visiting Austin in a few weeks to get a feel for what it’d be like to live there, as I’ve never set foot in the city, which has gotten MANY recommendations from anyone who’s ever been there. So yeah…we’ll move. And I have to start my market all over. SCARYYYYY!!!
So with 2009 ahead of us…. I decided to not let this year be unlike any of the others and have set some resolutions. I’m kinda starting to freak out lately because I have two wrinkles …. one on my forehead and one between my eyebrows. I just splurged on buying a whole anti-aging facial care system from Oil of Olay. I don’t know where the years went! One day I’m 21, still fighting a pimple every now and again, and then suddenly, I’m nearly 30 and showing signs of aging. AHHHHHHH!!
There, now that it’s in writing, I hope I’m held to it.
On to photos. I was going to just post my 10 fave pictures I’ve taken in this last year. But I can’t narrow it down. That’s not one of my strengths. So instead, I’m going to post in chronological order, a photo that is at least in the top 3 of the session/wedding, because it’s hard to pick a No. 1. It’s been such a blessed year, and I’m so fortunate to have been chosen to document such important events and memories for my clients.
Here goes. You might have seen some of these before as they are most likely somewhere else in the blog.

Hi, H family…thank you for ringing me for a last-minute holiday snap-fest. You all are so freaking cute. I hope I am lucky to have such a family of my own someday.
Since I just posted from this session, I thought I’d post instead the holiday card I made for the S family. This is Eleanor. I get to see her again in three weeks!
Ok, that’s it. The longest post ever. But as I begin the 3rd year of Darbi G Photography, I think it’s appropriate that I take the time to look back at those who made my 2nd year a success.
I hope anyone who comes this way to read my blog knows how fortunate we are to be alive. And I wish you all many reasons to laugh and the strength to find an inner peace this next year.
Photography by Lara - Darbi, thank YOU for coming to Omaha for my wedding. I wouldn’t ever choose anyone else. You really ARE a kindred spirit. I heart you!
