Allison & Zack could not get any sweeter. When I met them last fall for a consultation, I found myself talking and listening as if I’d know them for a long time. They are so laid-back, and I found kinship with Allison as a creative soul herself…she is a graphic designer. I immediately enjoyed Zack’s sense of humor. I just KNEW they would be tons of fun.
The forecast for the day we scheduled their engagement session wasn’t very photo-friendly…with 40 percent chance for thunderstorms and low 50s. But we tried it anyway…and though we were cold…and flirted with getting wet, I am so glad we didn’t postpone it.
So we started out with their dog. His name is Diesel. And despite his threatening name, and perhaps ominous size, he is a scaredy-dog. Seriously. Wouldnt’ come near me. Apparently, I bite. But how freaking cute is he??
And Zack loves him some doggy kisses.
My assistant that day was Courtney Tompson. She caught this great shot.
And then that doggone rain started…so we hid under a tunnel, just in case.
This is one of my favorites.
This next shot made me laugh when I saw it later. Yes, a jogger came by. But notice that three pairs of feet are in the frame. But not Allison’s. haha
Ok, ANOTHER favorite. Isn’t she so pretty? I love the slight smile…it’s of a woman who is confident in love. 🙂
And this is Courtney’s shot of the same pose.
Zack is so sweet with Allison.
And looky…Courtney caught me on a high. 😉 And yes, that is a makeshift rain shield for my Stuart. It’s a garbage bag.
Oh yes, his protective nature kicked in.
Courtney’s tender-moment capture.
The rain did indeed start falling…lightly. I tossed an umbrella to the two…and while I was getting situated under another, I noticed that Allison was trying to keep Zack’s ears warm.
So we all know that Zack is a good man. But… this made me laugh. When we headed back to the cars, it was raining. So Zack and Allison started walking ahead. Notice what Zack’s first instinct was with the umbrella…(on the left)…the photo on the right was after a certain photographer who shall remain nameless hollered at him. haha
To escape the rain, we sought shlter in a parking garage. I thought it an opportune time to work with some off-camera lighting on the stairs and in the elevator.
but the rain did once again go away…And here are a few more from our last leg of the session.
Courtney’s view:
Same moment on the left, caught by moi.
How beautiful is she!!?? And I love the serenity in the image on the right.
Gotta love the red doors…and God’s house. 🙂
The last stop was at Kaldi’s Cafe…one of Allison’s favorite haunts. It also was the location of our consultation back in October.
Courtney’s catch.
Allison & Zack…we had tons of fun with you. Thanks for braving the blasted weather! Good luck these last few weeks before your BIG DAY! Can’t wait to see you both all gussied up.
A - DARBI!!! These are flipping AMAZING!! OMG you are so awesome 🙂 Thank you SO much!!!
My favorite is the BW shot under the bridge and Z loves the portrait shot of us and Diesel, but they are all so great!
We CANNOT wait til wedding day!!
Amanda - I love them all! I bet they were so excited when they saw the photos. I take it you are doing their wedding too…
Great job!
Photography by Lara - Too cute. 🙂 I love when you show the same shot from two different perspectives; it really shows what just moving by a few feet can do.
I love seeing the pictures of you behind the scenes too!
