I am going to hold off on filling this post with the sappiness and sentimentality that I am feeling for this couple because I need to blog their wedding. So I’ll wait for that one. But let’s begin this one with how they crossed paths with me.
When Amber emailed me last April for their wedding, which would take place in Salisbury, Missouri, 7 months later in November, she indicated that a photographer was her #1 priority for wedding planning. That right there was just the beginning of learning how great of a fit we were for one another! I sent her all my info, corresponding back and forth about my approach and their story over the course of 2 weeks.I was so happy when I got an email back from her that said, “We kept talking about it and there’s just no one else who compared; and when your pictures are essentially what you have left after the wedding, we wanted the best. ”
But they also wanted an engagement session and were excited to come to Kansas City for it. She warned me in advance that she and Loren were unphotogenic. And when asked about what type of location they wanted for the photos, she said, “As far as vibe goes, I don’t want to say rural because we’re not exactly looking for tractors and yeehaws…but we like the nature or park idea. Nothing super stiff! Mostly wanting something soft and romantic. And a little playful too! Like I said, we’re not known for great pictures so you’ve really got your work cut out for you!”
I have to tell you. Amber is a liar. Well, not really. She’s actually very honest. But she totally lied about the “beware, we’re so not cute in front of the camera” thing. You want to know how I know? Because when they got out of their car, and immediately clasped hands and walked toward me, the chemistry they had as well as their flipping gorgeous curly hair… and their blue blue blue eyes… the camera in my hand let out a squeal. They were NOT what I was expecting after Amber’s untruthful admission. haha
Instead, I got to spend the next two hours with two people who made me laugh, who laughed at me…and who were so easy to just talk to, that I just knew they were going to go down as one of my favorite couples ever.
So now… about 6 months later (I don’t know HOW I let blogging their session fall off my radar!!!)… here are just a few of my faves from their engagement session. And stay tuned because I’m going to blog their wedding soon!
xo to you both, Amber & Loren!!!
