I was pumped for this session for a few reasons.
1. Stefanie is the first truly redhead that I have worked with. And she’s gorgeous!!!
2. I know Stefanie from my days in Columbia, Mo. We have a mutual friend, and we would all get together to watch a really respectable show together…called…uh… THE BACHELOR. π
3. I am friends with her on Facebook, so I knew that the man she is marrying in November is a dashing young man. And they like to have fun!
4. They wanted to do their engagement session on the scene of where Alex popped the question! The Nelson here in Kansas City. (they still live in Columbia.)
So what’s their story? Stefanie, who is currently the coordinator for Greek Β Life at MU (finally some Tigers representing, huh? ha), and Alex is in web development for a property management company. The two crossed one another’s paths when they showed up to the same LOST watch party. (Apparently, Stefanie is a Watch-Party-goer!!!!)
I love what Alex had to say about how he knew Stefanie was THE one.
I’m one who does not get sick very often. I’m kind of a germophobe and just like cleanliness as a whole. So, one day, I got sick… and I mean really sick. Stef came over and cooked me vegetable soup she made from scratch. She wouldn’t let me do anything and just wanted me to feel better. She wouldn’t leave my side and I knew at that moment we were a team and nothing was going to pull us apart.
and Stefanie’s proposal rundown was just as heartwarming. π
Alex and I drove to Kansas CIty to hang out for an afternoon — we occasionally make the 2-hour drive to get out of Columbia and go do something fun. We talked about going to the Nelson-Atkins museum to check out an exhibit and then maybe go to a minor-league hockey game. I was excited, but Alex was acting weird. I assumed he wasn’t feeling well, because he even stopped half-way through the drive so he could sleep and I could finish driving. We went to the Nelson first, and Alex was acting more and more bizarre. Somehow I still didn’t pick up on what was going on, and I started to ask him if we should just go back home. He insisted he was okay, and as we walked around outside, he wasn’t talking much. Finally we sat down on a bench together and talked for a bit. All of a sudden, he’s down on one knee in front of me… and I don’t remember too much else. I was stunned and so excited I couldn’t even find words! We sat there for another 45 minutes just enjoying the moment and trying to collect ourselves!
So of course, we got a pic of them on THE bench where Alex was finally able to stop being so nervous. π
And I’m INCREDIBLY pumped to shoot their wedding this November in the BRANSON area! Fun. πand clearly, they have awesome senses of humor…they were all for this pic set up…which I later photoshopped. π gotta Love Frieda Kahlo as inspiration! πTHE BENCH!!!This time, he put a lil’ something on her RIGHT hand. πStef & Alex…ENJOY the rest of your engagement. We’re sure to have a fun and goofy and gorgeous time in November. π xo
